Antique Furniture

There really is no comparison of modern furniture vs vintage or antique furniture. Most furniture today is made in China, India, or Indonesia and is designed mainly to have a high look, and a low price. They use inferior materials, such as particle board (saw dust and glue) or they use fiberboard (fibers and glue) for the structures. The interiors may have some real wood, but will most likely be the lowest grade possible. Real Antique furniture is made of real wood, and in high grades of lumber, such as mahogany, walnut, and cherry.

Many of the earlier pieces will be constructed of solid cherry, or solid walnut, or solid mahogany with hand cut or machine cut dovetails in the front and back. The interiors will even be made out of high grade lumbers, such as mahogany, walnut, and cherry. The nicest thing about vintage or antique furniture is the fact that it has already proven that it can stand the test of time. Another nice feature is when you purchase vintage or antique furniture it goes up in value. Modern furniture goes down right after you buy it, just like a new car. So, buy antique furniture, save your self some money, and most importantly you will be making a good sound investment.
